Originally built as a maternity hospital in the 1950s, St Monica's has recently been tastefully refurbished and repurposed to now accommodate some of the ever-growing numbers of students coming to study in Cape Town. The vacant, non-functioning building was sold by Jill Coetzee and Ryan Snyman to Varsity Village. The new owner took on the task of converting the space into modern, world-class student accommodation while still retaining the look and feel of the property, ensuring it continues to blend in with the strong heritage of the area. Going as far as to retain the hospital's stone chapel, which will now tell the stories of St Monica's and offer the students a quiet space.
The facility offers affordable, comfortable, fully furnished & serviced accommodation in a safe, fun, and modern environment. Located at 38 Lion Street on the slopes of Signal Hill in the historic and colourful Bo-Kaap, St Monica's offers stunning views of Table Mountain and the Cape Town CBD. It is centrally located, allowing for access to several tertiary institutions.

This deal was jointly done by Jill Coetzee and Ryan Snyman. Although a more complex deal than usual, taking several months, their dedication to the parties involved meant that the deal went through despite obstacles.
